Pros
Consists of four distinct layers
Design keeps you from rolling off
Available in multiple firmness levels
Cons
Expensive
The WinkBed is the brand’s most basic mattress, but that doesn’t mean it’s boring. In fact, it’s their best-seller. Each of the four layers contributes to the bed’s comfort, starting with the base, which WinkBeds calls “the extra-edge support system.” As its name implies, this layer keeps you from accidentally rolling off of the edge of the bed in your sleep. The next layer features individually wrapped pocket coils that target any areas of the body in need of some extra support, while the penultimate layer consists of a built-in topper that’s made with gel-infused foam. Lastly, there’s the eucalyptus-derived quilted cover, which makes the bed breathable and cooling. The best part, however, is the ability to choose your preferred firmness levels.

It’s hard to believe that a mattress with so many benefits is less than $700, but it’s true. Brooklyn Bedding’s Bowery mattress is also comprised of four layers. A one-inch layer of quilted gel memory foam provides optimal cooling and pressure where needed. A two-inch layer of soft foam creates a gentle transition to the mattress core. The six-inch base of up to 1,032 individually encased coils decreases motion transfer. And another one-inch layer of high-density foam adds the perfect amount of durability.

Choose between four mattress thicknesses
Infused with green tea to prevent odor and moisture
Cons
Soft
We love when a best-seller goes on sale, and this Zinus mattress, which is infused with green tea, is proof. Green tea may seem like an odd ingredient for a mattress, but hear us out: It keeps your bed fresh and, when working alongside ActivCharcoal microparticles, it helps block moisture and odor. Best of all, it’s basically customizable because you can choose between four thicknesses.

And because the whole thing is wrapped in naturally breathable organic cotton, you’ll never wake up in a pool of sweat.

Most brand’s original mattresses are the best because, at the very least, they’re classics. This one is an easy winner, courtesy of the top layer of breathable foam. The memory foam underneath is the good stuff: It perfectly contours to all of your body’s curves to relieve any back, hip, and shoulder pressure. There’s also Leesa’s signature core support, which may be responsible for this mattress’s years-long lifespan.

Sadly, the sweet Husky isn’t included, but Layla’s memory foam mattress does come with a new kind of technology that’s making us take a second look. The foam is made using copper gel, which reacts to increased pressure with a firming response. Copper is also naturally antimicrobial, which earns this mattress a few extra points in our book.

Is it wise to buy a mattress online?

Yes, it is wise to buy a mattress online. In the past, we wouldn’t recommend it because, well, how do you return a mattress if you don’t end up loving it? These days, however, most brands include a sleep trial of up to three and a half months and, if you don’t enjoy it, they’ll get rid of it for free.
Why are online mattress cheaper?

Online mattresses tend to be cheaper than going to a store that sells multiple brands because there’s no markup. They’re direct-to-consumer, meaning they’re designed for customers, not department stores.
