This month brought some exciting behind-the-scenes milestones for my blog—I made my first $7.11 and saw my Pinterest really start to take off! I was blown away by the growth I saw and I have a lot of hope going forward.
While blogging doesn’t really fit into my niche about motherhood, homemaking, and simple living, I wanted to share the wins I had behind the scenes, and maybe inspire anyone out there who has been thinking of starting a blog for a while but thought it was too late.
I’m here to officially tell you: It’s not too late to start a blog! Even with AI coming onto the scene, there is still potential for bloggers to contribute financially to their family all while sharing about things they love and helping others.
Month Three Goals
In my third month blogging update, I shared my goals for the coming month. Last month I barely hit my goals, so I thought month four would be a stretch. Boy, was I wrong! This month my Pinterest took off and I had analytics I couldn’t believe.
Month 4 Measurable Goals
Month 4 Goals | Actual Analytics |
8k impressions on Pinterest | 29.5k impressions on Pinterest (🤯) |
85 outbound clicks | 325 outbound clicks |
150 website sessions | 355 website sessions |
5 email subscribers | 2 email subscribers |
Like I said, I am absolutely shocked by how this month went! Especially because I felt like I didn’t really put any extra time into my blog. This month has given me so much hope that maybe this blogging thing could actually work out!
Can we also talk about my email subscribers?! The past few months, I have talked about how my only email subscriber was myself 😂 I am so excited that I finally got a real subscriber!! Thank you to that person!!
First $7 Made
I’m shook that I can even write that I made $7.11 this month from my blog. I really wasn’t expecting to see any kind of income until maybe later this year.
Even though it’s only $7.11, this is still so encouraging to me. Transparently, my family has been trying to pick up the pieces financially since I got laid off from my job in 2024. It is so encouraging to see even just a little bit of extra income!
So how did I make $7.11? It all came from being an Amazon affiliate! I have a few different blog posts where I share different products I love and have affiliate links, where I make a small commission if someone uses my link.
On my blog, I often talk about how small steps over time can lead to bigger results. Usually, I’m talking about decluttering or homemaking, but it’s also true for blogging!
What I Learned This Month + Advice for New Bloggers
Focus on What Works
The first thing I learned this month is what blog posts are working and which ones aren’t. Now that I have four months under my belt, I’m starting to see which posts and pins my readers are most interested in.
For my blog, my audience is interested in these categories: Motherhood, Toddlers, Intentional Living, and Fashion. Moving forward, I’m going to try to focus my content more on these things, while still including some of the other categories I talk about every once in a while.
If your audience is interested in a topic, keep writing about it!
Growth Takes Time
Second, I learned that growth really does take time and is different for everyone. In my blogging Facebook group, some of the other bloggers saw much bigger numbers by this point in their journey, while some are still trying to see any growth at all.
I feel like I have been lucky in seeing some growth on my blog by my fourth month. I don’t know if it’s luck or if I actually maybe have a strategy that works?!
If you’re in your first few months and haven’t seen any income or much growth, don’t give up! The bloggers who “make it” are the ones who just keep going.
Pinterest Really is the Best Way to Grow
Since the beginning, Pinterest has been my #1 priority. I don’t have any other social medias for my blog yet and I haven’t been paying that much attention to Google since AI is taking over their searches.
If you’re starting a blog in 2025 or beyond, Pinterest is the absolute best path to growth. It will still take a few months, but after a few months of consistency, you will see results if you follow best practices.
I still pin 2 fresh pins each day and space out my blog URLs at least 3 days apart. And I just use the free Pinterest scheduler! You don’t have to pin 10 times a day and buy Tailwind to see some growth.
Maybe someday I will invest in Tailwind, but for now I am happy with what I am seeing without spending a dime!
Goals for Month 5
Going forward, I am planning to stay focused on Pinterest and writing blog content. I would love to add more Printables or other freebies to my website too, but we will see. For the most part, I just want to keep growing an audience and hopefully in the next couple of months, have enough website sessions to join an ad network.
Measurable Goals:
- 20k impressions on Pinterest
- I’m worried my Pinterest stats were too good to be true, so I’m making my goal for this month a little lower than what I had last month.
- 400 outbound clicks
- 500 website sessions
- 5 email subscribers
My Last Blogging Update
Thanks for reading my fourth month blogging update, friend! I am a little sad to say this will be my last monthly blog update for a while. Above, I talked about focusing on what works rather than what doesn’t— and truthfully, my blogging reports are some of my least read blog posts!
While I enjoy writing them and seeing my growth month to month, I don’t want to keep writing blog posts that my audience isn’t interested in.
But don’t worry—I’ll still share updates from time to time when I hit exciting milestones or try new strategies!
Whether you’re building a blog, simplifying your home, or making space for what matters most, remember that small wins add up over time. Progress doesn’t have to be fast to be meaningful.
