Situation:
Wa State
Brother 53 yr old bariatric patient, stroke 17 years ago, left disabled . Been on SSDI & Medicare since. 4 months became bed bound after complications from surgery. Hospital & skilled nursing time ran out.
Completely bed bound, can’t toilet, diapers, the whole nine.
Myself and my family have been his caregivers this whole time. But due to caring for him for so long as a bariatric patient, we have our own injuries. We literally cannot go on caring for him in this condition.
Hasn’t qualified for Medicaid, we and social workers have applied over and over again. His income is $2,057 before he pays his Medicare every month. Co owns a home with my adult son(who also lives here).
No money for a lawyer. No family willing to care for him.
We are literally breaking our backs(I mean literally, I have multi level back and back injuries).
Are there options? Please?
