By skyforbes I need help, I previously applied for Medicaid in may and got it instantly approved but then I started receiving letters after I received my cards that they were cancelling it, they therefore canceled it end of august. I reapplied early September because I did not receive the letters since I was out of state. They said I was approved again and are now sending me my Medicaid cards, I looked on my account messages and it said:
“We received your application on Sep 8, 2025 for health care coverage through Maryland Health Connection. This notice is to let you know that you or members of your household qualify to purchase a private health plan during a Special Enrollment period. The Special Enrollment period will remain open from Aug 31, 2025 to Oct 30, 2025. If you are currently enrolled in a private health plan, you will remain enrolled in that plan unless you select a new plan during this Special Enrollment period. If you select a new private health plan, any costs or expenses incurred toward your previous plan will not carry over to the new plan. If you have not done so already, you must make a private health plan selection between Aug 31, 2025 to Oct 30, 2025. Once you have confirmed your private health plan selection, your Special Enrollment period will be closed.”
I am confused as to what a private health plan is, is that why they canceled me last time since I didn’t make a selection? I am currently a student and barely even make enough to get by. So does this private health plan cost money? Will my Medicare get taken away if I don’t choose one? I have so many more additional questions.
