Edit: After a few seconds of research, I don’t think i was on chip, but instead my household is low income so I was on medical assistance.
I’m turning 19 next month and from what I understand, i’ll be off chip. I currently am on amerihealth if that matters. I’m assuming that I have to apply for medicaid? Is this something I should do beforehand or wait until i’m 19 if I qualify? I filed a federal and state tax return l and parents have not claimed me as dependent for 2024 taxes.
In terms of actual qualification, i’m kind of confused. I know it’s based off MAGI and federal poverty levels. I make 17/hr and only work part time avg ~20-22 hours (1400-1650 monthly before tax i think). I have a month long summer job making 12/hr ~17/20 hours for the one month. I have around ~9k in cds, investments, checking/savings accounts in total, but i’m not sure if they count these assets? And if they use the magi, if applying after a higher paying month, could that disqualify you? or do they look at it as a whole?
Hopefully some of it makes sense, I don’t really know what to so please be patient with me. If there’s anyone I could contact, please let me know. Thank you!
