White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has shared a rare glimpse at home life with her son, Nicholas ‘Niko’ Robert Riccio
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt temporarily stepped back from her official duties this week to reveal a more intimate perspective, sharing precious moments with her young son.
Breaking from her typical professional persona, Leavitt recently shared photographs of her baby, Nicholas “Niko” Robert Riccio, whom she welcomed with husband Nicholas Riccio, 59. A single photograph, uploaded Sunday morning to her Instagram Story, depicts Leavitt cradling him at their residence, wearing a floral sundress and beaming into a mirror with the message, “Happy Sunday! I hope everyone has a blessed day.”
The mirror photograph showcases Leavitt’s genuine smile and casual appearance, providing supporters with a personal glimpse of her following public comparisons to Barbie.

An additional image revealed the youngster sleeping peacefully in a cartoon farm-themed ensemble, decorated with the phrase, “Home is where my mama is.”
“This shirt,” Leavitt wrote on Instagram Stories, including a tearful emoji and a blue heart. In a separate picture shared Saturday, the child sits beside a pool, savoring a watermelon slice, with yellow parasols visible nearby.
The content followed her most recent MAGA Minute episode, recorded on a compact stage before an American flag, featuring panel illumination and the presidential emblem in the backdrop.
The footage, similar to previous installments in the series, has drawn condemnation from political adversaries who claim it promotes false information. During the recording, Leavitt donned a sleeveless gray outfit with black accents and tan footwear.
Observers have pointed out that her look during recent press briefings has shifted toward more subtle fashion selections, including a navy blouse worn without her regularly displayed silver cross necklace.
Based on jewelry designer Trang Do, who founded Kim Joux, this shift in accessories might represent more than just a basic wardrobe change.
“From a design perspective, silver is a compelling choice. It has a democratic elegance as well as being cool, understated, and versatile,” Do explained to The Mirror US.
“It mirrors Karoline’s clean and contemporary style, and unlike gold, which can lean towards opulence, silver feels grounded and intimate. It invites closer inspection rather than demanding attention.”
Do observed that the missing cross necklace might hold deeper meaning.
“Jewelry often acts as an emotional anchor, so its removal, particularly when noticeable, can reflect a shift,” she explained.
“In this case, not wearing the cross could signal a moment of quiet transformation. Perhaps it’s a deliberate decision to step away from certain associations, whether religious, cultural, or personal.”
She continued, “It might indicate a desire to assert independence from expectations, or even a readiness to embrace vulnerability without the comfort or protection the piece once offered.”
Do recognized the potential for a practical reason but stressed that Leavitt’s public appearance is usually handled with careful attention to detail.
