The iPhone Air is stunningly thin and futuristic but makes compromises that affect real everyday use.

There is something about the iPhone Air that makes it feel like the future and the past at the same time. I have used it for almost two weeks, and still, I cannot say whether I like it or not. It has the look, is light to an impossible extent, and is almost surreal with your hand. Yet with every look at it, you are reminded of the things Apple had to compromise to make it so thin.

First Impressions: Not Just a Phone, a Concept Device

At first, the iPhone Air immediately creates a “wow” effect. It’s just 5.6mm thick, that is less than what one would normally expect for a flagship phone. It weighs 165 grams, and the lightness for the size is such that it seems like you are holding a piece of smooth glass and metal that is from the future. In addition, the 6.5 inch display, the titanium structure, and the kind of design that gives the feeling that other phones have suddenly become too big make it impossible not to be dazzled by it.
