Most prompts make AI sound like a robot in a suit. This one makes it write like your messy, late-night friend.
Most AI writing sounds dead. Too polished.

You know it, I know it.
It’s like reading an email from your boss when all you wanted was a story from a friend.
I got sick of that.
Until I stumbled onto one prompt that finally cracked it.
Here it is:
“Write this as if you’re talking to a smart friend late at night. Keep sentences short. Mix up the rhythm — some quick, some longer. Use natural transitions like ‘here’s the thing,’ ‘let’s be honest,’ or ‘you know that feeling.’ Add one small story or example so it feels real. Don’t use robotic phrases like ‘in today’s world’ or ‘it’s important to note.’ Stick to first-person or second-person (I / you). And don’t try to sound perfect. Rough edges make it human.”
That’s the whole thing.
And here’s why it works: it doesn’t tell the AI what to write it tells it how to sound. That’s where most people screw up.
