I don’t often ask my readers, followers, or friends to take political action.
But this moment demands it.
There is a real and rising threat — quietly circulating among those in power — that Medicaid, one of the few remaining social safety net programs in this country, could be gutted or even abolished entirely. Not reformed. Not slightly reduced. Erased.
If you have an elderly parent, a disabled sibling, a child with complex medical needs — or if you yourself might someday need care — please do not look away.
This isn’t just a budget line. It’s a lifeline. And its destruction would be a death sentence for millions.
I know this in my bones. My own brother is physically disabled and resides in a nursing home. He is completely immobile and relies on Medicaid for continued care. Without it, he would be left with nothing.
And he’s not alone.
Across this country, families are already stretched to the brink caring for aging parents, sick children, and loved ones with disabilities. What happens if we remove one of the few supports that still exists?
We know what happens. And we cannot pretend not to.
This isn’t fiscal responsibility. This is ideological cruelty.
Congress is expected to revisit this issue in the upcoming summer session. If we wait until then, it will be too late.
So today, I’m asking you to act. Not next week. Not after your vacation. Now.

📩 Letter Template: Stop the Plan to Abolish Medicaid
Dear [Representative/Senator Last Name],
I am writing in urgent protest of any efforts to abolish Medicaid — a program that millions of Americans, including my own family, rely on for basic survival. My [relation], who is physically disabled and fully immobile, receives life-sustaining care in a nursing facility through Medicaid. Ending this program would leave him — and countless others — abandoned.
Let’s be clear: this is not just a proposed funding cut. This is an outright attempt to dismantle a program that has served as a vital social safety net for nearly 60 years. It is unconscionable, cruel, and completely out of step with the will of the American people.
To destroy Medicaid is to sign a death sentence for elderly patients, people with disabilities, children with complex medical needs, and low-income adults who depend on it for treatment, medicine, and care. This is not fiscal responsibility. It is moral failure.
I am deeply disturbed by the silence or complicity of elected officials who were sent to Washington to represent their constituents — not abandon them. Voters across party lines recognize the value of Medicaid. You should be very concerned about the political consequences of siding with an agenda that bulldozes the social contract we all depend on.
Sincerely,
