So the MAGAs have been told that Medicaid funds were being spent on immigrants, including undocumented folks.
Here’s the part they got wrong.
- Trump wants to tell states how to spend state taxes — Some states offer health coverage to everyone regardless of citizenship or immigration status.
- Those states that do, pay for it from STATE TAXES, not federal.
- Medicaid funds from the federal taxes are ONLY available to citizens and a very few immigrants who are here lawfully, such as those on protected visas.
So MAGAs have been lied to just so they’ll support the cuts to Medicaid and Medicare. But here’s the wild thing about it…
The MAGAs are going to be hurt directly
because it is US citizens who currently use Medicare and Medicaid and they are the ones who will lose healthcare. I wish there were a way to protect our elders who are not MAGAs from the suffering that is going to occur if this passes the Senate, but sadly, we cannot.
Now you might be saying… “How do you know?”
Louisiana 2010–2016
In 2010, the Obama admin and Congress passed the Affordable Care Act. One of the items in this bill was a Medicaid expansion. Louisiana was one of a few states that refused the funding meant to provide more people with healthcare.
The money was there. It was budgeted for and not taking away from anyone else BUT in stubborn defiance, Governor Bobby Jindal refused to accept the additional funding.
Thousands of people in Louisiana went without healthcare, including a woman in Avoyelles Parish
who desperately needed a surgery to remove a damaged kidney that was causing ungodly amounts of pain.
She had been fired from a job she held for 15 years and was without health insurance for the first time in years.
The Medicaid expansion was made for people just like her because that’s what a good government does… it leaves no one behind.
How did the story end?
In 2016, Governor John Bel Edwards came into office and finally allowed the Medicaid expansion to come to Louisiana. This woman and thousands of others were finally able to get the healthcare and treatments they were denied since 2010.
Republicans do not give a f*** about you.
Jindal and Trump are one in the same. Just like Jindal, Trump has made up lots of lies to claim that he’s trying to save the nation money and claiming that he’s just trying to make sure your tax dollars don’t go to fund immigrant’s access to healthcare…
But this whole time… THAT is not happening. It is you in the US as a citizen whose care will be cut.
Dont believe me? If the Senate passes this, let’s chat in June 2026.
What does this mean for the rest of the US population?
- Several people will go without necessary surgeries and treatments meaning those of us in our 30s 40s and 50s will be taking care of sicker grandparents.
- Sadly, there will be people whose lives are lost due to inadequate access to healthcare.
- Increased stress on adults under age 65 will cause an increase in cardio issues, digestive issues and more as we try to balance the heavier burdens of ailing parents who cannot get all the care they need.
