I Asked ChatGPT to Predict NHL Results

AI vs Me: Predicting the NHL Season Openers

The NHL season is finally here, and I decided to try something “2025 AI”. I asked ChatGPT to predict the results of opening night games — scores, winners, even goal scorers. Of course, I had to throw in my own predictions too, because let’s be honest, I’m always right… LOL.

Next week, I’ll release part two where we see who did better — me or the AI. But for now, let’s see what ChatGPT thinks will happen… and where I completely disagree.

Florida Panthers vs Chicago Blackhawks

My take: Florida wins. Chicago just doesn’t look good, and even with Barkov and Tkachuk out, the Panthers are still too strong. Connor Bedard could make some noise, but I see guys like Lundell or Sam Bennett stepping up for Florida.

ChatGPT’s take: Florida 5–2, with Matthew Tkachuk scoring. (Yeah… except he’s not even playing.)

New York Rangers vs Pittsburgh Penguins

My take: Rangers win. They’ve got more depth, while Pittsburgh is in transition. Expect Panarin, Zibanejad, or Trocheck to be on the board.
