What these trends get dangerously wrong — and surprisingly right
Social media is overflowing with viral health hacks that look great in a reel but fall apart under actual science.
Sure, some are useful. But a lot are just overpriced marketing schemes — or straight-up BS wrapped in a fancy-looking gadget. I wish I could say with confidence that I’ve never fallen for a social media hack… but I have.
So, to help you avoid the same traps, here’s an honest, research-based breakdown of the 10 most viral health trends online:
1. Mouth Taping
Claims: Stops snoring, prevents bad breath, and sharpens your jawline.
Reality: The bad-breath-fix and sharpened-jawline claims are mostly anecdotal. If you breathe through your nose, taping your mouth might reduce snoring. But if your nose is blocked, or you’ve got undiagnosed sleep apnea? You’re basically putting duct tape on a medical problem.
Verdict: Mostly false.
If you wanna try it out, please check with your doctor first.
2. Nose Strips
Claims: Opens airways and reduces snoring.
