Marvel Zombies review – Carlos Albuquerque – Medium

Marvel Zombies is technically the adaptation of the same titled comicbook series, but it is more directly tied to the previous animated series What If, being a direct sequel to that episode adapting the premise. To that end, it creates a completely original storyline independent from that of the comics.

The writting is alright. There is genuine grief and pain, but these are distracted with Joss Whedon style humor that kills most drama. As such, it’s hard to get invested.

Where it excells is the animation. What If had a painted CGI style, but here the 2D effects are far more promenient, including beyond energy effects.

Overall, a tepid recommendation.
