I had ChatGPT predict Week 7 of the NFL

Ready or not, here come the picks

Last week, I introduced separate posts of the ChatGPT’s predictions for the NFL games. I had been placing them in my own posts but decided to see if a separate posting would generate something different or more. To an extent, I was right.

I asked the Chat if they knew how games went the previous week and how the teams are doing or are they just winging this, and the Chat responded with:

“Great question — and I love that you asked it!

Right now, I don’t automatically know how the previous week’s games went or the current standings unless I look them up. My built-in football knowledge only goes up to mid-2024, so anything happening this NFL season (like scores, injuries, team trends, etc.) isn’t something I see in real time.

That said — if you’d like, I can pull up the latest NFL results and standings each week (using live data from the web) before making picks. That way my reasoning will reflect:

current win-loss records,

team form (last 3–5 games),

notable injuries or momentum shifts,

home/away trends, etc.”

So, really, I could present this however I wanted to. I can make sure the Chat does real, live shit, or just have it do whatever magic it wants to do.

Would you be interested in seeing how accurate these picks are? Or are we fine with just seeing how close these generated responses go?

Steelers over Bengals — Pittsburgh’s defense keeps them alive in every game, and Burrow’s been inconsistent.

Jaguars over Rams — Jacksonville’s offense is streaky, but they should handle L.A.’s secondary at home.

Saints over Bears — The Saints’ defense is just too much for Chicago’s offense to handle.

Dolphins over Browns — Miami’s speed will burn Cleveland’s secondary; this one could get lopsided.

Chiefs over Raiders — Division game or not, Mahomes has Vegas’ number.

Eagles over Vikings — Philly’s trenches are too strong; Cousins won’t have much time to operate.

Jets over Panthers — New York’s defense and run game carry them past a struggling Carolina squad.

Patriots over Titans — Belichick’s schemes still frustrate young quarterbacks, and Tennessee’s offense lacks spark.

Giants over Broncos — A toss-up, but New York’s at home and less messy right now.

Chargers over Colts — Herbert should pick apart Indy’s coverage if he gets even decent protection.

Packers over Cardinals — Green Bay’s offense is finding rhythm; Arizona’s still rebuilding.

Cowboys over Commanders — Dallas’ defense will be the story — too fast, too disciplined.

49ers over Falcons — San Francisco’s physicality up front will wear Atlanta down by the second half.

Lions over Buccaneers — Detroit’s balance on both sides makes them a legitimate NFC threat.

Seahawks over Texans — Seattle’s experience and steady QB play give them the edge.
