ChatGPT just launched a web browser and it’s not what you think.
We’ve seen Perplexity launch their AI-powered browser, Comet making serious moves in the space, and now OpenAI drops Atlas.
Another AI browser.
Another company claiming they’re reinventing how we use the web.
Look, I get the skepticism.
Every AI company is trying to own your workflow. First it was chatbots, then coding assistants, now browsers.
But Atlas is different in one specific way. It’s not trying to be a browser with AI bolted on. OpenAI built ChatGPT into the core of the browser itself.
Your conversations, your memory, your context all live natively in the browser. No extensions. No copy-pasting between tabs. No switching windows.
The pitch sounds compelling.
Your browser becomes a super-assistant that understands what you’re doing across every page you visit.
But here is what I don’t like — -privacy not guaranteed!!
OpenAI is asking you to give ChatGPT access to everything you browse. Your work documents. Your logged-in accounts. Your browsing history.
