I’ve found regular reflection is powerful in personal and spiritual growth. Sadly, in our tech-driven, constantly pinging world, reflection is foreign to many of us. We simply don’t know how to practice being still, much less think.
{Totally pointing the finger at myself.}
With this in mind, I’ve recently started taking about an hour every week to go through a set of personal review questions. These help me clarify my goals, celebrate blessings and accomplishments, and think through where the Lord is directing me for the coming week.
It gives me a chance to be still and allow the Lord to speak by prayerfully asking some tough questions.
Of course these are the questions I’ve found helpful for me; feel free to adjust or tweak them as suitable for you!
10 Important Questions to Ask Each Week for Personal Growth

Part I: Review your top goals from last week. Did you accomplish what you hoped to? Did
you do what really matters?
1. What were my big accomplishments this week?
2. How did I see/experience God this week? How did God speak to me?
3. What did I learn this week?
4. Where did I waste time this week?
5. Did I steward my finances well this week by being generous and investing in
eternity? Did I overspend?
6. What caused me to worry or be anxious this week?
Part II: Now set your sights on the coming week.
7. How do I need to adjust going forward?
8. What promise/scripture do I need to cling to this week?
9. What are my three top goals for the coming week? If I do nothing else, I want
to do these…
10. Who do I need to serve and how?
Making time for a personal review each week is beneficial to growing. It allows you to slow down, reflect on what you’re doing right, how you might need to change, and align yourself with the Lord’s will in concrete ways.
I hope these questions give you a starting place for doing your own personal review/reflection session each week. Enjoy!
