Death, Famous Dead People, and Grave Cleaning: My TikTok Binge

“You seem to have a fascination with death and the occult,” my partner once remarked. He wasn’t wrong — though to me, they’re two very different fascinations.

Death, scientifically speaking, is simply the cessation of the living body. But for most people, death is far more than a biological event — it’s a deeply human experience that triggers mourning, rituals, and beliefs about an afterlife or spiritual continuation.

The occult, on the other hand, is the grey area — the realm of the unknown and the unseen. It fascinates people precisely because it promises (or pretends to promise) answers to things we cannot fully understand. The topic of the occult usually splits into two camps, those who see it as a way to explore hidden mysteries and the other camp who dismisses it as superstition, fraud, even dangerous when it veers into dark magic.

Both intrigue me, though in very different ways.
