Testing TikTok’s Limits—with a glimpse into Roderick’s past from my Black Forest series.
Hey my fellow readers,
I promise I have not forgotten about you—never! Nor have I stopped writing—also never! I’ve been learning TikTok’s algorithm and how to use it to my advantage.
Lots of trial and error, but I’m starting to understand it better, and I’ve discovered a new way to post slideshows automatically with text duration (because you can’t use text duration on slideshows — only videos) instead of as manual carousel posts. If this proves successful, I’ll definitely be posting my first tutorial article here and my first tutorial video on TikTok.
This new method could be amazing for indie authors trying to promote their stories and books. Even though carousel posts are actually outperforming videos—according to the study linked below—while the information is still new and most likely anecdotal , it’s also worth pointing out that expecting viewers to stop scrolling within that first second and then expect them to manually swipe through a collection of images is extremely difficult.
