Valeria Marquez, a 23-year-old beauty influencer, was known for her TikTok videos that regularly garnered thousands of views. With a following of over 10,000, she frequently uploaded content showcasing her lifestyle, A day in her life makeup tutorials, and beauty tips. On the day of her death, Valeria was livestreaming from her beauty salon, Blossom The Beauty Lounge,located in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
During the livestream, Valeria mentioned seeing a motorcyclist repeatedly circling outside her salon. She expressed discomfort about the man’s presence. In a text to her friend Vivian, she said she felt uneasy and wanted to leave. Vivian replied that she should stay because someone was sending her an expensive gift. Another friend of Valeria’s was with her at the saloon, and she reassured Valeria that an expensive gift was coming soon, which had to be delivered in person.
As the minutes passed, Valeria received a Starbucks drink, a meal, and a stuffed pink pig. She appeared excited, but still felt something was off. In a joking tone, she told her friend in the salon:
