Costco, Carts, and Cooperation: What the Men in That TikTok Got Wrong (or Right)

This morning, I watched a video of a man on TikTok walking around Costco asking husbands,

“On a scale of one to ten, how much do you love coming to Costco with your wife?”

Almost every man said zero — some even said negative numbers.

Only one older gentleman broke the pattern, smiling and saying “We come here all the time, so probably nine or ten.”

That clip stuck with me — not because it was funny, but because of what it hinted at. Why do so many men hate something as ordinary — and necessary — as a grocery run with their partner?

Okay, Sure — Costco Can Be a Lot

To be fair, I get it. Costco is intense. It can get crowded, noisy, and full of people blocking aisles while trying to decide if they really need 48 rolls of paper towels. Nobody loves standing in those lines, not even women.

But still — the errands have to get done. And when men say they hate going (with their wives), it feels so much bigger than just the weekend crowd. It sounds like frustration at being pulled into a kind of work they were never expected to do.
