Book Review: The Perks of Being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

This novel reminds us that even quiet people carry infinite worlds inside them.

Most people should know this novel since it has been adapted into a movie in September 2012 which starred Logan Lerman, Ezra Miller, and Emma Watson. Actually, I’m not reviewing the film but I reviewed this novel. However, I’ve read this book twice, and my friend once used this novel for his thesis (I don’t know whether he really used it or not because at that time he wanted to borrow this novel but I brought it to my hometown — and this time, I brought it back to Jogja with me).

The Story of Charlie

So, we ended the introduction above and back to the main topic!
This novel tells about Charlie, a fifteen-year-old boy who is innocent and a wallflower, who always writes letters to an unknown recipient and addresses them as “Dear Friends” in all of his letters. He writes about his freshman year of high school, his life struggles after being abandoned by his friend Michael, who committed suicide, and his beloved aunt — Aunt Helen, who died in a car crash while buying a birthday gift for him. It made him suffer from traumatic disorder (PTSD).
