Back to the Future Review. I remember watching this film in a…

I remember watching this film in a theater. It’s strange because now I can’t even recall the last time I was inside one. Times have drastically changed. Why is Back to the Future so timeless? It’s a sci-fi film filled with fish-out-of-water comedy, a twisted romance, and a classic coming-of-age adventure. But Marty McFly is neither Luke Skywalker nor Harry Potter. Marty is a time traveler. His life in the eighties suburbs is bland, his parents are dysfunctional, and he has a strange neighbor rumored to be a genius.

This genius has created a time machine in the form of a DeLorean car. Marty is accidentally sent back to the past, landing in his hometown during the fifties. His parents haven’t even met yet, and any mistake he makes could erase his very existence. The eccentric genius neighbor is killed when Marty takes off by accident in the DeLorean. Now, Marty has to get back to the future and make sure his parents meet and start their romance in the past. But there’s a big problem: Marty’s mom falls for him. The younger version of the genius neighbor needs convincing that his future time invention actually worked, and the clock is ticking. Marty has to act fast and he needs the help of the younger version of his dead genius neighbor.

I think that’s enough hints about this powerful film. The scene where Marty grabs an electric guitar and goes heavy metal in front of the stunned teenage dance crowd is priceless. Go see this film if you haven’t yet, and see it again if you have.
