Can ChatGPT Make The Average Boyfriend Rich?

There’s truth in humour

My boyfriend had a brilliant investment idea

The miracle of new technology is actually quite tiring.

Before I had a sip of my morning coffee, I rolled over, rubbed my eyes and found him sitting up reading his iPad with a kooky smile on his face. “I’ve got a brilliant investment idea,” he said.

I groaned, rolled back over and buried my head in the pillow. “Not another one!” I thought.

“I’ll ask ChatGPT to act like a professional hedge fund manager and scour the internet for the company most likely to make the most gains on the stock market this week,” he said.

That was a month ago.

Up until then — like everyone else, I’d been dabbling with AI and having mixed results. Like everyone else, I’d discovered AI isn’t the Holy Grail of money-making all those tech dudes on LinkedIn make it sound like.

Other than a few pennies some people made from fairly obvious AI-written articles I’d read on here, I didn’t know of anyone who had turned their laptop into the digital version of King Midas.

My experience was limited to my mum, my boss and my boyfriend trying to get in on the act.
