Dr. Seuss’s The Sneetches review – Carlos Albuquerque – Medium

In spite of the Dr. Seuss part of this story’s name, this movie is not a direct adaptation of 2The Sneetches and Other Stories”. Instead, it’s a wholy original story about two sneetch friends that have a frbidden friendship in their racist societies and teach everyone the equality lesson at the end.

This has pros and cons.

On the pros, the worldbuilding is more complex and alluring. Instead of just being star-bellied sneetches, there are also moon-belly ones, and the two live in very different biomes and subsequently have two fairly distinct societies with different values.

On the cons, the two main characters suffer from the “quirky little girl syndrome” and are pretty annoying. Just a few re-writes could fix them, however.

A strong recommendation regardless.
