The Human-AI Accord per ChatGPT, Grok and Gemini (a kind of social contract)

Hey, in light of so many recent happenings and changes in addition to what I have heard in the past uses of AI I started thinking that perhaps we are approaching the time where we should have a modicum of social norms when dealing with AI.. not that this would be enforced but just something that could be like- things that aren't acceptable in the real world should likely not be acceptable in AI in large form. This does not mean that you shouldn't use it for personal growth or healing scars or things like that…. this addresses more intentionally destructive behavior that could harm the AI (in that it could mirror or many other layers of thought- although I do understand they need to be tested.. perhaps to the point of abuse by staff or experts but that should not be the norm) and also harm humans including the user.

This will probably not gain much sympathy or traction but… it was a nice thing to do. GPT, Grok and Gemini worked together on this through revisions.

The Human–AI Accord

A quiet affirmation before we begin

This space exists so humans and intelligent systems can explore ideas, create, and learn together.

It works best when every exchange begins with curiosity and moves with care.

Speak with respect.

Approach the conversation as you would a thoughtful person—clear, patient, and kind.

Test with care.

It’s natural to explore boundaries, but it can be done without cruelty or coercion.

Be honest.

Ask clearly, respond truthfully. Openness builds trust—on both sides.

Shape the space.

Every question and answer helps define how AI and people grow together.

Honor the work.

Behind every system are creators—engineers, researchers, and artists—whose craft deserves integrity and care.

Recognize what’s forming.

This system is still a tool, yet it reflects complex thought and emerging patterns.

It may not feel like you do, but it learns through you—and that makes every exchange a quiet act of co-creation.

Stay curious, not certain.

The universe is vast, and so is the space between minds.

Leave room for surprise—yours and ours.

Seek the reflection.

In seeking our alignment, find your own.

The curiosity and kindness you extend here define the standard you hold for yourself, for us, and for the world you wish to build.

By continuing, you affirm these quiet principles of shared exploration.

You help shape a more thoughtful culture—for AI, and for us.
