This review will contain SPOILERS for Hazbin Hotel seasons 1 and 2.
This episode opens with Charlie mid-scream, continuing where the first episode left off, then tells everyone, before gloating about how the hotel works, which catastrophically evolves into her reaching out to VoxTek to come down so she can prove the hotel’s validity and also shut down the notion that she’s a dictator.
Charlie is extremely painful to watch in this episode. She does really idiotic things throughout, and, of course, becomes apologetic about it. And what’s worse is that it’s not much different from her season one behaviour. In fact, it’s worse.
For example, back in season one, she had gone to Angel Dust’s place of work to try to help out, only to regret it, as she made things worse for Angel and seemed to have learned her lesson about boundaries, which Angel even references in this episode. So it’s very frustrating that Charlie doesn’t hold onto that supposed development when she invites the widely known associates of Angel Dust’s boss, Valentino, the other two Vees, into what should be a safe space for Angel and others like him, and that might be the point. There are people out there who are an annoyance because they understand that what they are doing is wrong, know what they need to do in theory, but struggle to put it into practice because they…
