The Claim Product and Data vision is to reimagine and simplify the end-to-end claim experience by providing a nimble and frictionless claim capability for all constituents, driving maximum affordability. This is a product role that supports a growing Payment and Presentment capability and will require skill with managing change both internally and externally.The Business Product Owner will serve as the Product Owner within Feature Teams, operating under the LeSS Model to develop and deliver key features for the Payment and Presentment Capability at UnitedHealthcare. In this role, you will actively gather and document business requirements, translate stakeholder needs into actionable features, and collaborate closely with Application Owners, Delivery Leads, and other scrum team members to ensure projects are executed efficiently and deliver measurable value to stakeholders. The Product Owner is responsible for prioritizing work within the capability backlog, driving the delivery of innovative product features for the Payment Engine Application-a shared service that processes over $255B in payments annually across all lines of business. By leveraging new technologies and fostering cross-functional teamwork, you will help maximize business outcomes and develop transformative capabilities for both internal teams and external constituents.You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities:
- Promote and drive LeSS Feature Team development methodology throughout the team/s, providing direction and support to Feature teams
- Define, prioritize, and drive realization of specific product vision
- Work with Business Analysts and other team members to ensure the product functionality is appropriately documented
- Accountable to represent business partners crossing functional areas to transform vision into Requirements. Be the Subject Matter Expert accountable for Requirements to align and deliver objectives
- Serve as the ‘voice of the customer’ with Feature teams, representing/reinforcing the customer’s perspective throughout the product realization cycle
- Manage developing requirements and prioritization of backlog, continuously and transparently communicate with internal stakeholders the prioritization of the Product Backlog and status
- Reviews, accepts, and prioritizes feedback and new requirements from project stakeholders
- Work to help direct, motivate, and guide the Feature teams
- Reviews output of development to ensure that Feature team deliverables meet agreed-upon standards for quality and non-functional requirements, and that the products meet the stated business need and documented Acceptance Criteria
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of designers, business analysts, developers, testers, and others to develop and execute against Product Roadmaps and Release Plans
- Develop comprehensive test plans, coordinate stakeholder reviews and approvals, and oversee execution to ensure alignment with business requirements and readiness for deployment
- Collaborate with User Experience partners in usability testing and the development of the user design
- Manage, prioritize, and assess the impact of defects, including providing key input on the decisions to fix or defer
- Perform thorough production checkout to confirm successful implementation, monitor for issues, and ensure seamless user experience following release

- 3+ years of experience in Product Management (or related positions) in the Health Care Industry
- 3+ years of Agile experience acting as a Product Owner/SME for multiple Feature or Scrum teams: Writing user stories and/or Features, and following the development process through Acceptance
- Experience leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and End-to-End testing, including test plan creation, stakeholder sign-off, and execution
- Intermediate level of proficiency with PC based software programs and automated database management systems required (Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and Powerpoint, Visio)
- Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking with a bias toward action and innovation
- Demonstrated ability to meet commitments, build consensus, negotiate resolutions, and garner respect from other teams
- Maintain a basic knowledge of software development
- Understand basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures
- Exhibit diplomacy with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Telecommuter must be willing to have work hours that align to business needs
- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and champion their use to improve team performance and business outcomes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Agile product owner or agile leader certification
- Product management certification
- 4+ years of experience in project management (or related positions) in the Health Care Industry
- 2+ years of experience with Payment Engine Application as well as claim processing
- Experience with documenting processes and practices, often in accepted project methodology artifacts, while effectively prioritizing multiple tasks, priorities, projects, and deadlines
- Familiarity with one or more UHG claim platforms
- Proficiency in using AI-powered tools such as Microsoft Copilot to enhance productivity, automate routine tasks, and support data-driven decision-making

The salary for this role will range from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment.
