Just over a week after a significant AWS disruption, Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform suffered a major service disruption. The incident began at 15:45 UTC on October 29 and lasted until 00:05 UTC on October 30. The root cause was a seemingly routine configuration change within Azure Front Door (AFD) — Microsoft’s global content delivery and routing service which triggered widespread node failures across its network.
Impacted services include Azure Active Directory B2C, Azure Portal, Azure SQL Database, Azure Virtual Desktop and many other…, Xbox Live(users reported login errors) and Microsoft Copilot experienced disruptions.
