I Asked ChatGPT to Write a Japanese Haiku About Learning Machine Learning

It was supposed to be a fun prompt. But somehow, it turned out… kind of wise.

So, I was trying out some prompt engineering techniques with ChatGPT, just testing prompts, nothing serious, and then I wrote this prompt:

“Write me a traditional japanese haiku about the do’s and don’ts on the journey to becoming an applied machine learning engineer. I’m a total non cs-background graduate, so I could really use some sage guidance.”

But somehow, it turned out… kind of wise.

Don’t rush into it. Take in a deep breathe, exhale.

Alright, now you may proceed.

Journey to Applied ML: A Haiku Sequence

1. First Steps
Blank page, open mind —
Numbers hum their quiet songs,
Old fears learn to bow.

2. The Language of Thought
Algebra’s still pond,
Reflections of logic bloom,
Concepts take soft root.

3. Tools of Creation
Python warms your hands,
Loops and lists breathe into life,
You start shaping clay.

4. The Garden of Data
Messy seeds abound,
Clean with care, tend every row —
Truth hides in the soil.

5. The Model’s Whisper
Machines dream in math,
You listen between their lines,
Bias softly speaks.

6. Arrival, Yet Beginning
Mountain’s peak in mist —
You see farther, not finished,
Learning never sleeps.

I hope you loved it as much as I did. 😊
