ChatGPT had an update earlier this year that includes new customization options. If you constantly find yourself entering the same persona, tone, and other settings for ChatGPT, it might be worth it for you to update some of these settings.

Here are the step-by-step instructions to customize your setup in ChatGPT

Note: this is all on desktop with a paid plan. Your experience may be different on mobile or with a free plan.

  • Open ChatGPT
  • In the bottom left corner, click on the diamond icon next to your account name

  • You can set the Base style and tone (options as of 11/10/2025 are: Default, Listener, Robot, Nerd, Cynic)
