The Week in Review: November 14, 2025

This week’s WiR is a bit short due to a family matter. But there’s nevertheless enough crap to spread around. Thanks for your indulgence, and drop some cash at a food bank, because the government is now open, but its coffers aren’t.

· CNN reported this week that Supreme Court Justice Gorsuch will co-author a children’s book on the Declaration of Independence, something apparently, he knows little about.

· Megyn Kelly, mother of three young teenagers, questions whether Jeffrey Epstein was really a pedophile since the girls were all over 12. Tell us, Megs, did Patel hand you a bag of cash or did it come directly from Karoline Leavitt?

· In a strange turn of events, the right is putting forth a bizarre conspiracy theory that the former hate-speech enthusiast, Charlie Kirk and his wife are trans. Sources confirm that Ms. Kirk did in fact transition: from “grief” to “grift.” Further, regardless of his chosen sex, Mr. Kirk’s pronouns are currently was and were.

· Several news outlets reported that George Santos is leaving New York due to Mamdani’s election, meaning the mayor-elect is already reducing the crime rate, and he hasn’t even been sworn in.

· The DOJ is suing California, claiming its voter-approved redistricting constitutes race discrimination in violation of the 14th Amendment. It is not suing Texas (which engaged in the same redistricting), because fuck those n*****s.

· Uber and Lyft have been sued by men drivers because both rideshare companies now offer riders the option to select a woman driver, causing male drivers to lose fares, which makes them want to fucking strangle those entitled bitches!

· “Ask him if Putin has the photos of Trump blowing Bubba.” — Mark Epstein email to Jeffrey Epstein after Jeffrey noted he was with Steve Bannon.

· “I don’t want to come early to find Trump in your house.” — email from victim to Epstein, worried that she might have to spend time with the current president.

· The Johnny Taylor Cheaper to Keep Her award goes this week to Brenay Kennard who, People Magazine reports this week, has been ordered to pay an ex-wife $1.75 Million for cheating with the husband. The ex-wife (who is also suing the now ex-husband) recovered under a North Carolina law that allows victims of cheating to seek financial damages in court. This is a stark reminder that one should probably not cheat in North Carolina.

· “Epstein was a democrat and he is the democrat’s problem.” — Donald Trump’s post today, hoping to dissuade republicans from voting to release the full files. Oh, pumpkin.

· Last week, students protested against the pro-hate group Turning Point coming to the UC Berkeley campus to spread its version of conservative values. The protesters were angry and loud, prompting Turning Point attendees to cower in fear at, you know, the exercise of free speech. Berkeley gonna Berkeley. And you’re welcome.

· “You and Donnie can do a remake of ‘Get Hard.’” — Mark Epstein email to Jeffrey Epstein in reference to a comedy in which inter alia a convicted man contemplates his sex life in prison (response from Jeffrey: “you mean Donnie Tee.”)

· “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump … [Victim] spent hours at my house with him.” — Epstein email to convicted sex trafficker Maxwell about Virginia Giuffre, released this week.

· This week, Nicki Minaj reposted an anti-trans comment from the White House, confirming rumors that she is, in fact, actually Kanye West.

· This week, Lauren Boebert was hustled into the Situation Room with AG Pam Bondi, Todd Blanche, and Kash Patel, where no one can record or document the meeting. No details were shared. Probably just wanted to talk about whether she wants to do chicken or steak at the White House Christmas party. This may be the first time in your life for this, but baby girl, don’t do the “chicken.”

· Kid Rock (known in bar circles as the reason women cover their drinks) says that the declining birth rate is due to liberal women who aren’t interested in sleeping with people like him. OK, but hear me out: where is the lie?

· Ghislaine Maxwell, who was transferred to a minimum security prison after meeting with the Trump Administration, now enjoys perks other inmates don’t receive, like specially prepared meals brought to her by staff, private meetings in curated spaces with relatives and friends, refreshments for visiting guests, access to non-public computers, dog therapy, and — get this — extra toilet paper. In this economy!!

· In our ongoing segment called, “Not All White Christians, but Always a White Christian,” Bryan Posthumus (yeah, I know), staunch anti-gay “family values” proponent, has been accused of frequenting gay hookup locations. That moment when your name and your career collide.

· Trump floats the idea of 50 year mortgages as a way for people to buy homes. So, to be clear, that’s called renting (and only the landlord banks get rich).

Here it is: we all knew, and the (curated and redacted) files will show, that Trump is a rapist pedophile. Hell, he happily told the world he’d date his own daughter. We also already figured Putin had something over on him. We further assumed his misdeeds went far beyond criminal sexual assault and included money laundering and fraud. The files are likely to show all of this, and may even drag some high profile people into the mud (don’t care). But the bigger issue is whether any of this will matter at all.

With a neutered Congress and a Supreme Court that makes me wish for the good old days of Fat Tony Scalia, can we salvage the ethical fiber of our country, or have we just raised the bar for what is acceptable behavior? I’m not sure I know the answer, but I do know we have to try.
People do not get canceled and I’m tired of telling Millennials and GenZs to look at the facts. The facts are that people get publicly reprimanded for bad behavior they used to get away with but now suffer some limited (and warranted) consequence before they can get back to the business of trying to be a good/ethical person. Your high school buddy said the N-word and got her Harvard acceptance revoked? Yeah, well, that’s called a consequence and Harvard is a privilege, not a right. Think it’s too harsh? This n-word girl begs to differ. She’s not going to die. She’ll be fine. She’ll end up graduating from college.

Why am I mentioning this? Because the files are gonna out some folks. Let’s please do this: let’s stand up for ethics and doing what’s right as more information is revealed. Let’s let people suffer the consequences of their actions, even if we otherwise admired their works. Morals are situational; ethics are unwavering, and if we can’t take a stand now, we’re doomed. What are you drinking?
