I’m currently transitioning from Title XIX Medicaid to the APD Medicaid Waiver (iBudget). APD has already screened me and deemed me eligible for the waiver. I never asked to withdraw or close my case.
But DCF just sent me a denial letter saying:
“We received your written request to end this benefit or remove you from this program.”
I never submitted any written request. No signature, no form, nothing. Nobody contacted me to verify. It looks like either a clerical mistake or a wrong document attached to my case.
Here is what I’ve done so far:
• Filed a Fair Hearing request immediately
• Received the Hearing Acknowledgment Letter, waiting for the scheduling notice
• Contacted my APD worker, who confirmed I did not withdraw and is now reaching out to Medicaid supervisors to fix the error
• I still have active waiver eligibility, but the Medicaid denial is blocking the transition from Title XIX to the waiver program
• I have all my documentation ready, including DCF notices and APD eligibility confirmation
My understanding is that Medicaid must remain active (or be reinstated) in order for the waiver enrollment to proceed. This incorrect “written request” is now blocking me from completing the transition.
My questions:
• Has anyone had DCF incorrectly claim you requested to end Medicaid when you didn’t?
• How did it get fixed?
• In FL, does the Fair Hearing typically resolve these kinds of clerical errors?
• Should I expect the Medicaid supervisors or APD to resolve it before the hearing?
Any advice or shared experience would really help. This whole process has been overwhelming and confusing.
