By skyforbes just wanted to check if anyone else is experiencing these issues in the ChatGPT Android app, because both are driving me a bit crazy lately and annoys the f out of me.
- Images shared via the Android Share menu show up as files
Whenever I share a screenshot or image directly to ChatGPT, it no longer shows up as an actual image preview. Instead, it appears as a file with just the filename. No thumbnail, no instant recognition, and ChatGPT doesn’t “see” the image unless I manually trigger an analysis.
This started a few days ago (not super long, but long enough to be annoying), and it happens with every single image I share. There’s no way around it except manually uploading images from the gallery, which defeats the purpose of fast sharing. -
Voice input bug (microphone button)
This one happens when I record a message using the microphone button (not Voice Mode). Sometimes after tapping “See text”, the entire transcription disappears and the input field goes blank, and I have to restart the App to be able to see the text input field again. Which means the whole recording is gone. That sucks so much when you've been talking for several minutes and haven't thought about the bug. 😫
This bug has been around for months, maybe even a year. It doesn’t happen every time, but often enough to be frustrating.
I noticed that it usually doesn’t happen if I force-close and reopen the app right before recording. But if the app has been sitting in the background for a while, the bug happens way more often.
Both bugs are really annoying, but the image-sharing bug is honestly even worse, because it’s unavoidable.
I emailed OpenAI support about this days ago, and I've also reported the same voice recording bug once a few months ago, but both issues persist. 😐👎🏼
Is anyone else dealing with this too?
Any ideas what might be causing it, or things I could try? Even though I think that I can't do much here and that it's more OpenAI's turn to take action.

If you’re experiencing these bugs too, »please« consider reporting them to OpenAI Support as well. Maybe if more people send in reports, they’ll realize how widespread and annoying these issues are and finally push a fix.
