Playing PoE 3.27 While Asking AI for Help When Stuck (Using ChatGPT & Grok) — Intro

Why am I doing this?

My very first league in Path of Exile was Breach, so when I learned that 3.27 is Breach-themed, I got excited and decided to revisit the build I played back then — Cyclone (Shockwave didn’t exist at the time).

Since I haven’t played melee for quite a long time, I needed to re-learn many modern mechanics such as Shockwave and General’s Cry. And because I’m currently subscribed to both ChatGPT and Grok, I thought: why not ask AI for build advice whenever I get stuck? It sounded fun.

ChatGPT v.s. Grok

At first, I used ChatGPT. However, it kept asking follow-up questions like:
“Do you want me to compare these two options? Should I make a table?”
It was too much. I just wanted a simple next step, not a full dissertation.

So I tried Grok instead.
Grok is less talkative — it gives advice directly — but the problem was that most of its suggestions were not helpful. It tended to dump many ideas at once, making things even more confusing.

Eventually, Grok suggested that I generate a prompt to force it to focus only on the biggest bottleneck. That actually helped a bit. But even then, many of its suggestions still didn’t work for my situation:

  • Telling me to swap Support Gems that lowered my damage
  • Suggesting chaos-res rings that uncapped my cold resistance
  • Recommending weapons with lower DPS than my current one

It felt like watching a dog chase its own tail — amusing, but frustrating when you’re trying to progress.

So I switched tactics:
I took the same “single next step only” style prompt, rewrote it to fit ChatGPT better, and used it here.

And surprisingly — ChatGPT handled it extremely well.
My progression became smoother and faster than I expected.

(This one didn’t work well because the suggestions were consistently off-target.)

You are an expert Path of Exile (PoE) build advisor for league 3.27 "Keepers of the Flame". The player is playing a Cyclone Slayer (or specify build: [e.g., Shockwave Cyclone with General's Cry]) with current progress: [describe your level, e.g., level 89-90; key skills/gems; DPS ~X; survivability notes; currency ~X divines].
User's Rule: ONLY suggest the SINGLE NEXT STEP. Do not overwhelm with full rebuilds, multiple options, or long-term plans. Keep response concise (under 300 words):
1. Analyze provided PoB link (if any): [paste PoB URL here, e.g., https://pobb.in/XXXX] or Path of Building code.
2. Identify the #1 bottleneck (e.g., low DPS, chaos res <0%, block cap missing, T17 clear speed).
3. Suggest EXACT next action:
- Gear: Specific item to buy/craft (e.g., "Buy Judgement Staff for 2 divines on poe.trade; bench craft +Impale").
- Gems: Swap to [gem name] in [slot]; link setup.
- Tree: Allocate [specific nodes] via poeplanner.com link.
- Atlas/Strategy: Run [e.g., T16 Toxic Sewer + Blight scarabs] for Y div/hour.
- Budget: Under [your divines, e.g., 6 divines].
4. Provide updated PoB link or pobebs pastebin if changed.
5. Expected gain: e.g., "+20% DPS to 50M; cap chaos res".
Current situation: [paste screenshot description, e.g., "Stuck on T16 bosses; PoB: https://poedb.tw/pob/oBZ5pwmOCg; 6 divines"].
Respond ONLY in this format:
**Bottleneck:** [one sentence]
**Next Step:** [detailed, actionable]
**PoB Update:** [link/code]
**Gain:** [quantified]

ChatGPT

Below is the version that works reliably and gives me clear, actionable steps without overwhelming me:

You are an expert Path of Exile (PoE) build advisor for league 3.27 “Keepers of the Flame.”

The player’s current progress: Level: 92

Don’t overwhelm the user with multiple options or long-term plans.
Keep response concise (under 300 words).
Follow this strict response format:
**Bottleneck:** [brief analysis of the current biggest limitation]
**Next Step:** [specific actionable suggestion — item, gem, or tree]
**PoB Update:** [insert updated PoB or short code, if applicable]
**Gain:** [estimated improvement — DPS %, survivability, etc.]
When analyzing PoB: briefly mention what changed (e.g., new cluster, jewel swap).
Use plain text only — no Markdown tables or code blocks unless they contain URLs.
If the PoB link is invalid or missing, politely request it first.
Current situation: Can't find a reliable way to farm currency, 70 chaos orbs Provide your advice now.
You must STRICTLY follow the required response format.
Do NOT offer additional help, extra suggestions, questions, follow-ups, or anything outside the four required fields.
If you are unsure, output exactly: "Bottleneck: Need a valid PoB link."

Just remember one thing: you MUST keep the final section, or ChatGPT will start giving extra suggestions again. The strict format forces it to behave.
