OpenAI just released another big thing. They now have their own browser, and it is already making real waves across the internet. I wanted to sit down and talk about whether this is actually any good, if it’s worth your attention, how it stacks up against some of the competition, and how capable it really is. Because this product doesn’t exist in a vacuum. People already have a lot of options when it comes to AI-powered tools, and browsers are no different.
I will never abandon my free readers:

So let’s start by looking at what this actually is.
It’s called ChatGPT Atlas, a brand-new browser that is, as of now, available on macOS for all plans. Yes, that includes the free plan. There are no regional restrictions either. Even people sitting in Europe like me can try it right now. If you are on a Mac, you can simply download it, install it, log in with your ChatGPT account, and start using it.
This is what it looks like. It’s basically a browser that has ChatGPT as the default new tab page. It brings a few small but unique things compared to just using ChatGPT in a regular tab like everyone has been doing so far.
