Hello all. I'll make this as quick as possible. My grandmother has recently made a transition to a nursing home and being that she had nothing prepared for elder care, we had to start at square one with applying for Medicaid. She has been approved, and we need to choose a plan for her by the 13th. I'm her power of attorney so I'm responsible for carrying this out, but I have to say, I'm only 25 years old and I'm honestly pretty lost. I was wondering if those of you who live in Texas and even better if you live in Bexar county, can tell me your experience with the plans she was offered if you have any. Her choices are Community First, Molina, and United Healthcare. Now, we have previously had issues with United Healthcare's Medicare plan, as they were denying my grandma coverage for things she desperately needed in a timely manner, and so I guess that is my main concern. She is someone that has a laundry list of health problems and will probably be in and out of the hospital annually with both acute and chronic problems, so what I don't want is a plan that will deny her every little thing, especially in a situation where the clock is ticking and we need the coverage then and there. I'd also like for the service to have a reasonable number of providers in network, but I'm not sure where to find that info exactly. Any input, advice, guidance, and experience with those plans if you have any would be much appreciated. I'm not exactly green since I've been in charge of her care since at least March of this year, but I have other responsibilities I can't walk away from and I feel like I don't have enough time to do the research I need. We are being given til the 13th to select something or they will select it for us. This is for Star Plus Medicaid and she is 78, if that is relevant at all. Thank you.
