Could this be a simple solution to a complicated problem in today’s AI driven society?

I’m not too sure what the reception to this thread will be, but there is one thing that always crosses my mind. Even when I actively dabbled with artificial intelligence models (mostly ChatGPT) I always tried to limit its use to language based things. That’s the ongoing debate on generative artwork.

Given how many companies nowadays are implementing the use of large language models and as long as these companies continue to develop new algorithms for generative artwork. It seems as if there’s no winning on either side of the coin.

However, that’s when it hit me, and I’m sure I’m not the only person who’s considered this and by no means is this solution easy to implement since it requires these companies to comply, but what if generative AI was limited to a set database of assets created by human artists that it can pull from?

Then the matter becomes simply, and I presume it’s back to where it was to begin with, ensuring the artists are paid well, credited for their work, and fully consent to having worked for this set database?

This way you completely cut off the models from taking from the web and quite frankly, this is the only way I could see such companies navigate this matter ethnically. Unless you all have some better ideas than I do.
