What you're looking at in the pictures are some of the pages from its manual. As you can see, this game takes no prisoner when it comes to realism. And I'm not ashamed at all to admit, I couldn't figure out much of anything aside from flying through way points on maps and firing my hellfire missiles. Which I learned have the ability to gain altitude before dropping to hit an enemy, in a beautiful arc. I couldn't even take off, had to quick launch my missions 😂.
A lot of middle aged PC gamers will recall the venerated Jane's Combat Simulations, which today are lost in the annals of gaming history. They're not even on GOG. This was an elite franchise that fully embodied the cutting edge of PC gaming at the time. Longbow 2, i believe, is the best of the bunch. If you see a copy in some garage sale or whatnot, don't miss out, it's an absolute killer.
More broadly – we don't have enough games on choppas right? DCS Blackshark is the only proper modern helicopter game that came to mind. Their time has passed i guess, as irl, where these awesome machines are slowly being phased out by the advent of drones. 😑
