We rarely got discounts on the switch, and it was always just some niche Nintendo games, never the best selling ones. Even if we got discounts, the lowest they would go to is like $45. You have other games, huge open-world games being discounted at like $20, I'm talking about games like Witcher 3, Skyrim, and RDR2, but Nintendo can't discount their games to even $30, even long after it's launch date. Nintendo would have still had discounts, even if Iwata was still alive, because back then Nintendo beleived in everyone being able to play their games at an affordable price. However the discounts all stopped the minute Furukawa became the new president.
Now we have Switch 2, a 450 dollar console that comes with 70-80 dollar games whose level of quality and content don't even come close to the level of other AAA games from other game companies. Even in Japan it's only $330, and no, it ain't no damn inflation (if it was, why does other countries have it more, depspite inflation being everywhere). It's because Japanese people more than any other country are more responsible their money, and Nintendo knows that. Furukawa was the first one to even have nerve to dare price their games at $80, when other publishers are far more humble with gamesl prices, that are made bigger and more fun for a much longer time. Furukawa never even shows his face at Nintendo Directs when even Iwata did, heck even Doug Bowser showed up once.
Consoles can be bricked now, left completely unplayable, which has never happened before, that is until Furukawa came in. Still no discounts on switch games, worse yet, we get old games sold to us for even higher prices, not even Sony and Xbox are that shameless. Switch 2 cartridges with high storage are probably made expensive by Nintendo, so third-party publishers won't want to buy it, why else would most of them buy game-key cards? Except for the ones that made special deals with Nintendo.
Furukawa is bringing this company down, all he cares about is pleasing investors, that guy is absolutely not a gamer. He's making very incompetent decisions right now, it's working for now because people love Nintendo and Pokémon, but sooner or later, even Nintendo fans will get tired of getting hoodwinked. It all starts with the Nintendo vs. Pocketpair lawsuit, which I'm positive that Nintendo is going to lose.
