Today I came across some information that completely ruined my mood.

New York brags about being the greatest city in the world, yet when people lose their jobs, they’re handed a pathetic $504 a week while across the river, New Jersey takes care of their unemployed with up to $800. It’s not just unfair, it’s exploitation disguised as “assistance.” It’s disappointing that New York, with its sky high cost of living, still caps unemployment at $504 a week. For a city that demands so much from its people, it gives so little back when they need support the most.

As of 2025, the maximum weekly Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefit in New Jersey is $875 (up from $854 in 2024)

This is appalling.
