By skyforbes I’m trying to figure out if it’s actually possible to run lightweight AI video-generation models locally things like short clips, motion effects, or basic AI video edits.
I’ve seen a lot of people running LLMs and image models offline, but not many talking about video models.
What I want to know:
- Which video models can run locally right now?
- Are there any “lightweight” options that don’t need a huge GPU?
- What tools or setups do people use (MLX, Ollama-style, Docker, etc.)?
- What kind of performance should I expect for short clips?
If anyone here has tried running a local video model, I’d love to hear your experience or recommendations.
