Is my friend ignorant when it comes to watching movies?

Recently, I showed my friends Inglourious Basterds and Whiplash, and my friends “L” and “K” didn’t enjoy either movie. They both said the movies were good, but the endings were bad. I’m starting to think that “L” is just one of those people who needs a clear-cut “good” ending—like where the hero beats the bad guy and kisses the girl at the end—and honestly, it feels a little ignorant.

I asked him what was wrong with the ending of Whiplash, because I think it’s great, and he couldn’t give me an actual reason. He just mocked it by saying things like, “Oh wow, he drums good,” or “Oh wow, he got abused by the teacher and got good at drumming,” which is just stupid. They also couldn’t explain why they didn’t like the ending of Inglourious Basterds, and I don’t know how you can’t love that ending.

I don’t know—am I just being insecure about them not liking the movies I enjoy, or am I crazy? Because I know people who have seen these movies without me being in the room, and they seem to love them.
