Yes, it’s a classic film and one I have seen several times, but it has always bugged me that even though the film is set in Philadelphia none of the characters speak with a local accent. As a matter of fact, most of the primaries speak more with outer borough NY accents.
I can’t think of any other famous films that get the local accent of whatever region they are set in so wrong. Doesn’t take away from the great script and performances but there had to be a reason why in the most famous film set in Philadelphia that nobody uses the actual accent.
