What’re the worst movies you’ve ever seen, from a thematic standpoint?

It might be a well built, well acted movie, but what the film actually had to say rubbed you the wrong way.

I think we can leave Birth of A Nation or Triumph of The Will out of this, as well as some obscure Rumble video maker who dramatized Protocols of The Elders of Zion or something. I don't think this needs to turn into a list of neo Nazi/oldschool Nazi films.

I'll start with one that's probably not that shocking a take anymore: 300 is a fascist film. It's extremely hard to watch after gaining any sort of political consciousness and not see that the core themes of the films are the virtues of a homogenous, traditional society and how much democracy sucks and how everything would have been fine if the ubermensch king Leonidas wasn't hamstrung by democratic institutions.

Then there's Dazed and Confused. I know this movie doesn't have much of a plot, but I hate it for what it cherishes. It's full of absolutely horrendous characters, doing horrible things to each other, but the film is utterly uninterested in questioning them, instead treating its normalization as proof that it's all fine in the end. The whole film watches like an unrepentant bully's nostalgia trip. It holds up the absolute worst of American adolescent culture as something to celebrate.
