By skyforbes It’s pretty good. Nothing mind-blowing. But it’s a quality use of the premise of Mars colonization, and well worth the indie price tag.
At least, it was. See, the game was more or less abandoned a year or so ago. That happens too, small game, small studio, life happens. But lately it’s become clear why, and it’s really, really gross.
I don’t have the scoop on the publisher drama, but it’s clear Paradox (the publisher) got their mitts on it, decided to just abandon updates, and now they’ve announced a “relaunch” with no substantive changes.
It’s a 5 year old game. Nothing is being remastered or remade. They want you to pay $40 for the same game again. But this time they’ll have post-launch support! Pinky promise! Plus the ‘ol’ Paradox razzle dazzle of an infinite stream of half-assed paid DLC, I’m sure.
Please don’t buy this shit. Half the reason I’m putting this here is they keep blasting it as a promoted add here on Reddit. The first one I saw, the comments were blown up with people calling them out for this. Now they’re wise/cowardly enough to turn off the comments.
Paradox has always been dancing with the line of being scummy, but at least the games are good. But the last half dozen Stellaris DLCs have been nothing but rushed slop that almost always breaks the game for a month. And now this shit.
Fuck Paradox. Personally, I’m done with everything they touch. I encourage you to do the same.
