I don't get it though. I should love a game like this, but there's something about it that just doesn't work for me. It has a "City Skylines" feel that doesn't set right. I love SimCity. I love Roller Coaster Tycoon and Sim Theme Park.
I'm trying to figure out what about this is such a turn off for me, and I think it mostly has to do with how ugly it is, which is probably my fault. Same with City Skylines. I know people can custom design some amazing stuff in these games, but I'm not a designer so the default way things get plopped down and paths get made and all that, it just comes off incredibly ugly. Then I just hate how little park management actually matters. It seems like the game is more focused on driving a car to do menial tasks or flying a helicopter to do menial tasks, and waiting for a storm to come around so you can put people in a shelter and do a bunch of menial tasks. There are gift shops and restaurants, but they seem a bit arbitrary. Even the dinosaurs are a pain because maybe they're just too complicated or something. It feels like such a chore to build a habitat for them, and the whole park is so ugly that I just get frustrated with it. (Same thing happened with Planet Zoo I think.)
I really really loved Operation Genesis. And on paper this is exactly the kind of game I would love. But I just don't get the City Skylines/Planet Zoo type of building games. Something about them doesn't click. Does anyone else feel like this? What's the deal?
