Here’s a tantalizing moral quandary about AI im movies, dig this one.

I generally hate de-aging. Im a big fan of clever casting and analog solutions when it comes to people playing younger versions of people. (Austin Butler BETTER still be playing younger Val Kilmer in Heat 2…)

Now check this out:

I had an idea for a fan script sequel to Trie Lies, but Id only want Robert Duvall to play the bad guy (He would be Harry's former boss and the guy who trained him, who goes rogue.) However, Robert Duvall is 90 years old and can barely speak/walk, let alone do any action.

What if there was an AI program or something that could either flawlessly recreate an all-digital younger Duvall, or put his face on a younger actor, but Duvall is basically there as an advisor and essentially consulting on the whole process of making "him" so that it's still in his control?

The broader question is, as long as the actor is still alive and still involved in the process, would you as movie fans be opposed to recreating an actor at any age, as long as they're still alive and involved in the process? Do you think it would bother you or put you off? Are you opposed to it on general principle? 🤔

I honestly dont know how Id feel about it, even as the author of this question. (I know they did it with Luke Skywalker in Mandalorian, but Im talking about a whole feature and in perpetuity)
