How do or will you remember your favorite actors?

So of course, your favorite actors won’t always be GOATs…that’s why I’m making that distinction. Maybe the answers will be the same, maybe not

Do you remember your favorite actors based on their best work? The way they make you feel? Something else?

In my case, my favorite actor before now has been Michael Crawford – OG Phantom of the Opera (my favorite show). When I heard the cast recording of the original, I fell in love with his voice. I then watched another of his shows (London West End, on DVD), and just fell in love again with his incredible talent. He was (still alive) an incredible comedian as well, who did all his own stunts. So with Michael, I was/am so drawn to his talent

Now I’m doing a deep dive on Al Pacino, and in many ways it’s similar to why I was drawn to Michael: extraordinary talent. But it’s more than that for me, and so the same reason I love him is the same reason I will remember him. Al loves words, he loves language. He is passionate about acting – more than that even, Al has said he HAD to do it, there was something in him, that he was born to act.

Sidney Lumet said this once, and it can’t be said any better:

“Everything stems from some incredible core inside of him. I wouldn’t think of trying to get near it, because it would be like getting somewhere near the center of the earth. What comes out of his core is so uniquely his own.”

So, why will you remember your favorites?
