NVIDIA teams with US Department of Energy to build seven new AI supercomputers

NVIDIA announced a partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy and several national laboratories to build seven new AI-accelerated supercomputers at Argonne and Los Alamos National Laboratories. The systems will feature large-scale deployments of the Blackwell GPU architecture, including one named “Solstice” with 100,000 GPUs and another called “Equinox” with 10,000 GPUs. Two of the systems at Los Alamos will use the Vera Rubin platform combined with the Quantum-X800 networking fabric. Together, the seven machines are expected to deliver about 2,200 exaFLOPS of AI performance.
