TLDR: IMO, a good game gave me some fun. What is your definition?
With more details, for me, this is what I expected for a game to be good.
Good doesn't mean perfect, it doesn't mean an immediate classic. It could have a lot of default, or none. An excellent game is good in general, and a buggy game could still be kind of good. And mostly: a good game cannot please everyone!
For me, a games is good as long as I have fun with it. May it be because of the gameplay, the story or the beautiful art and sceneries; all of which that makes me enjoy my time with the game (be it with a sad or happy tones). May it be a flash game or an AAAA game; a very narrative or a gameplay focused game.
I feel like nowadays, we doesn't want games to be good, we want them to be PERFECT, and you cannot have fun if it is not. And don't even expect having fun on a 13/20 game, or in a game where John Doe said they didn't like the character design. If someone doesn't like the game, it cannot be good for anybody.
Maybe I'm too nice with games, but I feel like a game doesn't need to be a potential goty to be good
Cyberpunk was bunged as shit at launch, but it still is a good game to play. Hogwarts Legacy universe come from the mind of a transphobic person, but it is a good play. FIFA and CoD are always the same shit, but gamer have a good moment playing them. Pokémon games are created with only a few pennies and not enough cares compared to the fortune Pokémon Compagnie have and could invest, owning the biggest franchise on earth. But you can still have fun with the little monsters
So tell me, what define a good game for you.
And please, don't attack each others because one said they don't like Baldur's Game 3 or had a good time with Superman 64 😅
